Introducing Alex Dickson, STAMP participants participating in the upcoming IFAMA 2024 World Conference agribusiness
21 May, 2024
Ten of our STAMP participants will be participating in the upcoming IFAMA 2024 World Conference agribusiness-specific Global Student Case Competition — the only one of its kind globally — providing students and their universities a world stage to showcase future #primarysector leaders.
This year our participants will be heading off to the beautiful Almería, in Southern Spain, (17-20 June).
As we head towards the event we will be show-casing some of our outstanding STAMP participants.
Introducing Alex Dickson and her remarkable journey within our cohort.
I am the project manager of LandWISE Inc. based in Hastings. The main part of my role is managing a six-year regenerative cropping trial focused on intensive vegetable production. I have also been working on a project looking at soil recovery after Cyclone Gabrielle, which is the research topic for my thesis as I work towards completing a Master of Environmental Management this year.
I wanted to be part of STAMP as being part of the programme was an opportunity develop many skills (#criticalthinking, #problemsolving, working under pressure in a team) through case study analysis which I have never done before, so certainly pushes me outside my comfort zone. STAMP provides a platform to engage with many other young people across the #primarysector, and I hope to engage with and learn more about the wider ‘food system’, as well as share my #knowledge and experiences with others.
I am excited to be part of the team heading to Spain for the IFAMA competition and EU field trip in June. It is an incredible opportunity better understand problems facing the #agricultural and #horticultural sectors, what is currently being done to feed the world into the future, and what is still required to meet global challenges head on.
