E Tipu – The New Zealand Future Food and Fibre Summit 2026 is a landmark gathering for our sector, bringing together farmers, growers, iwi, innovators, researchers, agribusiness leaders, investors and policymakers to tackle the big questions shaping the future of food and fibre in Aotearoa New Zealand. Taking place at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, Ōtautahi, on 21–22 May 2026 under the theme “Trending Into the Future”, the summit dives into food trends, capability, investment, AI and digital disruption, new proteins, consumer trends, rural wellbeing and more through world-class keynotes, panels and practical sessions. Hosted by MC Dr Victoria Hatton, the programme features a standout lineup including iconic designer and brand-builder Karen Walker, who will share insights on storytelling and staying ahead of global trends, and innovation leader Craig Fenton, who will unpack “From Tools to Teammates: Agentic AI in Action” and what that means for our industry. Mark Piper, CEO of the Bioeconomy Sciences Institute will take to the stage to discuss “what has science done for me lately?’ Chris Jackson a design futurist will lead a workshop on the food artifacts of the future. We also have wool fibre and forestry fibre taking to the stage. On 20 May, curated field trips from 11.30am–5.00pm will take delegates behind the scenes across Canterbury’s food and fibre value chain – from cutting-edge distribution and processing hubs to on-farm innovation – creating rich opportunities for learning, inspiration and networking in real-world settings. The summit dinner on the evening of 21 May in Christchurch will host the inaugural Women in Agribusiness Awards, celebrating the UN International Year of Women in Agriculture and recognising women and women-led teams driving transformation across Aotearoa’s agrifood systems, with Minister Nicola Grigg and leading agribusiness director Alison Barrass headlining as keynote speakers for the evening.
