Introducing Alex Reid (née Tomkins), STAMP participants participating in the upcoming IFAMA 2024 World Conference agribusiness

21 May, 2024

The Agrifood Management Programme for Strategic Thinking (STAMP) is an AGMARDT (The Agricultural and Marketing Research and Development Trust) funded project that expedites the growth of #skills and enhances sector knowledge among our aspiring #agrifood leaders, empowering them to effectively apply these capabilities. STAMP is organized by FoodHQ, with academic support from Massey University

Ten of our STAMP participants will be participating in the upcoming IFAMA 2024 World Conference agribusiness-specific Global Student Case Competition — the only one of its kind globally — providing students and their universities a world stage to showcase future #primarysector leaders.

This year our participants will be heading off to the beautiful Almería, in Southern Spain, (17-20 June).
As we head towards the event we will be show-casing some of our outstanding STAMP participants.

Introducing Alex Reid (née Tomkins) and her remarkable journey within our cohort.

I’m Alex and am involved in the kiwifruit industry post-harvest sector at Trevelyan’s Pack & Cool Ltd, an avocado and kiwifruit packhouse in Te Puke, Bay of Plenty. My role is Project & Business Improvement Coordinator, I get to work on a range of exciting #projects and the development of continuous improvement practices across all departments in the business.

I’ve been part of STAMP since May 2021, it’s been a unique experience and invaluable career development. Through STAMP I’ve created relationships with passionate #emergingleaders in the #agrifood sector from across #NewZealand.
Evaluating case studies of real-world businesses and their challenges has provided the opportunity to develop my skills in #strategic analysis, #criticalthinking, and #problemsolving. Allowing me to apply a strategic lens to projects in my job and #career.

Through STAMP I was fortunate last year to attend the E Tipu IFAMA 2023 World Conference in Christchurch and compete in the student case competition. Highlights included our team winning the Early Careers Professional Category and networking with agri-food professionals from all around the world.
I’m looking forward to competing in the student case study competition at the IFAMA 2024 World Conference in Almeria, Spain and gaining first-hand insights into Europe’s agri-food sector through the Europe Agri-innovation field trip.
